Progressing in the direction of ‘Health for All, Smiles for All’, GNRC Hospitals today announced the commencement of OPD services in Agartala, Tripura. Dr. Navanil Barua, Director, Deptt of Neurosurgery offered consultation to patients on April 27, 2019 at Urvashi Medical Hall, Shyamali Bazar. During the initial few months, OPD services in different specialities will be provided twice or thrice a month. Frequency will be increased in subsequent months. GNRC has also decided to establish an information centre at Agartala for the benefit of all, Dr. Barua said while addressing the media at the Agartala Press Club today.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Barua highlighted that non-communicable diseases have assumed epidemic proportions and has become the major cause of deaths and disability in Tripura. He stated that while communicable, maternal, neonatal and nutritional diseases caused 31.1 % of deaths in the state in 2016, non-communicable diseases led to death and disability of 57.0 % of the population.

Dr. Barua further added: “It is disheartening to note that diseases which are preventable are causing most of the deaths. It is essential that individuals are aware about healthy lifestyle practices, in order to reduce such risks. Health is the basis for the socio-economic development of any region. We, at GNRC, through our Affordable Health Mission, are committed to provide quality health care at affordable cost to maximum number of individuals.”
