Dr. Borah is a renowned neurologist, founder and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of GNRC Hospitals Ltd. Dr. Borah is an alumnus of AIIMS, New Delhi where he worked as a Senior Resident and obtained his DM degree in Neurology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN). Dr. Borah has also completed Graduate Summer Course in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Michigan, USA. In three decades since its inception, GNRC, ably led by Dr. Borah, emerged as the first super specialty healthcare centre in Northeast India and has grown consistently to reach a stage today where the institution treats over 100,000 people annually. Concerned that most private healthcare facilities, including those set up by him, were unaffordable for the majority of the population, while public healthcare facilities were over-burdened, Dr. Borah initiated determined efforts to formulate a model that enabled access to quality, affordable healthcare for the majority of the population. He conducted numerous conversations with members of the local communities, in the attempt to understand the challenges they face in accessing affordable, quality healthcare. These conversations led to the formulation of an operating and service delivery model, which found its expression in GNRC Institute of Medical Sciences, which commenced operations in early 2014 at North Guwahati.
Mr. Jatin Hazarika retired from the Indian Administrative Service on May 31, 1987, from the post of the Chairman, Assam Board of Revenue. During his service career, he had the unique privilege of working as the secretary to six Chief Ministers of Assam belonging to different political parties. Besides undertaking responsible roles such as Deputy Commissioner & Project Administrator, IADP, Cachar; Managing Director State Marketing Federation, Agro Industries Corporation; Regional Manager, Food Corporation of India etc., Mr. Hazarika has headed important departments of Government of Assam like Home, Political, Personnel, Administrative Reforms, General Administration, Parliamentary Affairs, Information & Public Relations, Industry, Power, Food & Civil Supplies, Transport, Tourism, Handloom & Textiles etc.
Mr. Hazarika has also been honored by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi in 2009 for his distinguished services to the cause of Public Administration in the country. He is a recipient of “PAUL H APPLEBY AWARD” in Public Administration. He regularly contributes perspective-led articles to newspapers and journals on themes of topical interest.
Ms. Priyanka Borah has been acting as the Deputy Managing Director of the Company. During the period of her engagement, Ms. Priyanka Borah has been contributing towards smooth management of various day to day issues relating to Hospital Administration, Human Resource Management, other Strategic & Company Policy matters.
Ms. Priyanka Borah is a management degree holder in Business Studies from the “University of Sheffield” U.K. Further she had done her “Executive Leadership Program” under the guidance of Ernst & Young and a Course on “Managing Healthcare Delivery” from Harvard Business School in 2015.
Dr. Jayanta Madhab is an economist who served as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Assam, India, from 2003 to early 2009. He advised the Chief Minister on economic and financial affairs, before taking up the mandate of employment generation in Assam in the Chief Minister’s second term. He has worked for the Asian Development Bank as well as the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation (NEDFi). He holds a Masters Degree in Economics and a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
Mr. Bora is the Nominee to the Board of Directors of the Company from Assam Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (AIDC Ltd.). He is presently acting as Deputy General Manager (Technical) in AIDC Ltd. and has a wide range of exposure in his field.
Mr. Shantikam Hazarika has been a personality of repute who has served in various capacities throughout his post-academic career like: as Senior Executive Oil India Ltd., Founder Director, Assam Institute of Management (A Government of Assam Society), Member (Finance) Assam State Electricity Board, Chairman Board of Secondary Education, Assam.
He has also been the Ex-Chairman, Gauhati Stock Exchange Ltd., Ex-Member State Planning Board, Govt. of Assam and had been Ex- Directors in various organizations like NEEPCO, NHPC Ltd., Hindustan Copper Ltd., etc. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) from BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan, and Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.
Dr. Madhurjya Borah is currently the Executive Director, GNRC Ltd. cum CEO of GNRC Institute of Medical Science, North Guwahati. Dr. Borah has done his Schooling from Army School Narengi, Guwahati and completed MBBS degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical University, Chennai in 2016 and thereafter had also done his internship from Guwahati Medical College Hospital, Guwahati, Assam.
Mrs. Satabdee Borah– Executive Director
Ms. Satabdee Borah has been associated with GNRC Ltd. as Executive Director cum CEO GNRC Hospitals, Sixmile. She is a commerce graduate and has undergone her International Masters in Healthcare Leadership from McGill University Montreal, Canada. Presently she is acting as the Executive Director GNRC Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of GNRC Hospital, Sixmile.
Dr. Tarun Chandra Bora is currently the Vice-Chancellor, Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, Nasatra- 781307, Barpeta, Assam. He has completed his Ph.D. in Soil- pesticide- microbial interaction from CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat: awarded by Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, M.Sc. in Botany- specialization in Microbiology from Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam and B.Sc (Hons) in Chem., Zoology, Botany (Hons). from B.College, Jorhat, Assam. He has also been a professor and a teacher in various schools and colleges and received awards and accolades. Currently, he is acting as the Non-Executive Director of GNRC Ltd.
Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee is the founder medical director and trustee of Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya. He has done his MBBS degree at Silchar Medical College in 1981, Assam and then completed his post-graduate degree of MS in Ophthalmology from Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati in 1983. Besides doing Cataract Surgery in medical colleges in large volumes, he also took the initiative to start modern Vitreo Retinal Surgery, Pediatric Eye Care, Oculoplasty, and Laser surgery for different diseases in Medical College set up.
His vision came to existence only in 1994 when he could organize; mobilize fund and manpower to establish Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya in Guwahati, the only tertiary eye care institute in North East India. The institution is not only involved in eye care services but also conducts Postgraduate medical course in Ophthalmology & conduct research activity under a Charitable Trust namely Sri Kanchi Sankara Health & Educational Foundation (SKSHEF).
He has received many prestigious awards in Social and Ophthalmological forum. He is the pioneer of introduction & development of Intraocular lens implantation following cataract surgery and also the pioneer of the introduction of Phacoemulsification, a surgical technique in North-Eastern India.
Dr. Bhattacharjee has authored more than 200 national and international scientific papers. He has presented many scientific deliberations in local, national and international forums. He has chaired, acted as a panelist and delivered guest lectures in many scientific sessions (both national and international). He is also Co-Author of 4 textbooks of ophthalmology.
Dr. Bhattacharjee is the Examiner of Calcutta University, Gauhati University, Diplomat of National board of examiner and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons(FRCS). He is also appointed an inspector of the Diplomate of National Board of Examiner, Post Graduate Teacher and Research guide (PH. D) of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Science (SSUHS). He is also associated with various national and International Societies of repute as life members.
Currently, Dr. Bhattacharjee is acting as the Independent Director of the Company.
Dr.(Mrs.) Jayasree Borah– Non-Executive Director
Dr. (Mrs.) Jayasree Borah has done her MA, Ph.D. in Geography from the prestigious Guwahati University. She has retired as a Sr. Professor of Cotton College, Guwahati and is presently engaged as the Guest Lecturer at B. Borooah College, Cotton University & Guwahati University.
She is a regular columnist for the Amar Axom, Axom Bani, Swasthya, Niyomiya Barta. She has seven publications to her credit viz travelogues and 2 biographies.
She is also an active social worker and is presently associated as a –
