11th Annual Conference of the North East Chapter of Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons (NEIAPSCON) was held at GNRC Hospitals today. The two day long conference was inaugurated by World Boxing Champion and Olympic medalist, pride of Northeast and Padma Bhushan awardee MC Mary Kom and Padmashree awardee Dr Rathin Dutta. The conference was organized by Departments of Paediatric Surgery, Paediatrics and Neonatology, GNRC Hospitals. The conference brought together a number of pioneers in the field of Paediatric Surgery from all over India.


The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Newer Trends in Paediatric Surgery’ and it was enriched with a live workshop along with an array of CME lectures & Symposium revolving around various current issues relating to the main theme of the conference. National faculties of repute Prof Minu Bajpai from AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Ravi Kanojia from PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. A K Virmani from Jamshedpur, Mr Pavan Choudhury from Delhi and Dr. Kishore Panjwani from Agra also attended the conference. A two day workshop on difficult Paediatric Intravenous Access was also held along with the conference which was attended by many doctors, postgraduates, nursing staffs and students. Dr. Toijam Soni Lyngdoh, Paediatric Surgeon of GNRC and organizing Secretary of the conference expressed his gratitude towards all the participants for making the event a grand success.

It is noteworthy to mention here that GNRC Hospitals is the pioneer in Paediatric Surgery in Eastern India in the private set up.  It has a fully equipped and functional Paediatric Surgery unit.
